What’s known as the ad industry began with a father-son duo in 1869. Since then, very few industrialists have revolutionized our lives as consumers, entrepreneurs and the proletariat.
In 1969, Mr. Byron E. Lewis opened America’s first Black advertising agency in New York City. A man of ambition and instincts with unquestionable vision, introduced corporate America to a Black world. Envisioning multinational corporations telling authentic stories that depict multicultural lives.
Our ad was written for his induction into the 2013 AAF Hall of Fame. Over a storied career, colleagues, competitors, employees and haters called him every name in the book. Find his exhibit in The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History 📍
Thank you, Mr. Lewis for shaping our culture. Shouts to Distinguished designer, Adrian Franks for the immaculate visuals 🤝
